This is an interesting article on smaller weddings and solutions during this lock down. Many couples have had to deal with changing their wedding dates, often for a full year.
Others have simply modified their plans and similar to this article, opted out for a Sudbury Pop Up Wedding.
What a nightmare this would be. I suppose some problems that show up at a wedding event could be worse, much worse. Like a bride hating her wedding photographs weeks after the wedding because she hired the wrong person. Or, constant rain at an outdoor location. Or someone getting hurt, or, worse yet, dying. The Ontario government has recently announced phase two and the size of gatherings for weddings has been increased to ten.

There’s a lot of interest in these events and we’re talking inquiries. Some are asking about the actual photography. Of course, the weather plays a big part in how the photos look at this location, but rain or shine, we get them done.

Worse yet, when you have a large crowd of close friends and family, all outdoors, nothing but umbrellas, hopefully, and if it starts raining, that dampening effect made way worse by the mere fact that so many are in attendance. No matter the size of the event, I always like to capture the heart and soul. There’s a story to tell, and one of the best ways to do this is by using a photo journalistic style and black and white photography.
I have learned over the years and by applying myself with decades of of wedding photography experience to “anticipate” and be ready when the shot will reveal itself.
Couples love this style of photography of course. And when blended with the more artistic, classic photography, it adds so much more to the overall collections of memories.
I’ve been photographing engagement sessions for a long time. My main photography studio has a long history of wedding and engagement sessions.
Whenever I am asked the main question: When should we have our engagement session done? I always suggest that sooner if better than later.
